Boca Raton, FL (April 17, 2019) – Professionals from the life science industry in South Florida toured a pharmaceutical warehouse responsible for assuring the safe and efficient delivery of medications to dispensing points around the country.

    That’s a big job.

Florida ranked fourth of all U.S. States in 2018 for quantity of prescriptions filled in pharmacies with 273,253,636 according to the Keiser Family Foundation.

WDSrx – Woodfield Distribution, LLC is a pharmaceutical logistics services provider based in Boca Raton, Florida. Their important role in the healthcare supply chain is often overlooked due to their high performance levels and efficient operations.

The tour offered a glimpse into the route prescription medications follow within the supply chain from manufacturer to WDSrx and then on to trading partners and dispensing points including wholesalers, retailers, institutions, physicians and consumers. Boca Raton City Council Member Andy Thomson and Nicholas Cannon, a representative from the Office of Florida Representative Mike Caruso (R-89th) joined 75 guests from pharmaceutical manufacturing companies and related firms for the annual event.

During welcome remarks, WDSrx President Adam Runsdorf mentioned that “South Florida life sciences companies share a competitive spirit and a collaborative nature that promotes the growth of our region as a national life sciences hub.”

Due to the specialized services provided by WDSrx, their seven facilities located in Florida, Texas, New Jersey and Ohio comply with strict regulatory requirements established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other Federal and State authorities.

Tour-goers were taken to see the on-site packaging and labeling, customer service and reverse logistics departments that help gain further efficiencies for clients.

The program was co-hosted by the Gift of Life Marrow Registry, which set up a station during the event for guests to join the donor registry and possibly help cure a patient with blood cancer and by the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.
