Logistics Operations Continue in Florida During COVID-19 Resurgence

WDSrx operations proceed without disruption during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As cases of COVID-19 increase in Florida, Texas and other States, WDSrx maintains normal operations while continuing to prioritize workforce health and wellness.

Along with Texas and Arizona, the Sunshine State has fast become one of the regions with the highest surges in the country.  Positive tests have exceeded 10,000 per day during the second week in July. With locations in Boca Raton, Florida, Pompano Beach, Florida and in Sugar Land, Texas, frequent and clear communication with our employees, clients and vendors is vital to allocating resources for continuing operations.

Beginning February, 2020, daily meetings with the WDSrx management team added health and wellness strategy to their agenda.  Full-time on-site cleaning, sanitation and maintenance teams at all WDSrx facilities were directed to heighten existing rigorous hygiene protocols. In addition to regular cleaning conducted throughout each day, heavily contacted surfaces are sanitized frequently.

Written instructions about personal hygiene are posted in high-traffic areas and in multiple languages stressing the importance of social distancing, mask wearing and frequent hand washing.  All employees have access to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  Cleaning products including hand sanitizer and disinfecting spray are available at several locations in each building.  Employees attend training sessions to emphasize the importance of steps to decrease virus transmission.

Facilities are open only to WDSrx employees.  Visits from external parties into WDSrx buildings are prohibited including pick-up and delivery drivers, freight forwarders and vendors.  Employees who feel ill are instructed to remain home from work.  Any employee displaying symptoms or presenting with a fever when entering the workspace are sent home.  A few isolated cases of employees testing positive have occurred and these team members were told to stay at home or were immediately sent home.

To protect employees, staggered work shifts limit physical contact in the warehouse, common areas are reconfigured, packing stations are spaced to maintain distancing where possible and many meetings are held virtually even within the same physical space.  Operations have been modified to limit employees within aisles and utilizing material handling equipment to move even lightweight boxes in place of two warehouse technicians.

“We are drawing on our agility and expertise providing flexible logistics solutions for clients to address health priorities, employee concerns and client requirements during this pandemic,” according to WDSrx President Adam Runsdorf.
