Leadership involves managing current business challenges in a way that promotes future growth.
For example, the pharmaceutical industry is under pressure to reduce drug prices. Manufacturers are looking to increase efficiencies in their supply chain to maintain profits. This directly affects WDSrx relationships with manufacturers of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
In order to continue to provide excellent service, several areas of our business are undergoing a change in order to capitalize on emerging logistics trends and increase client satisfaction.
1. COLD CHAIN
The growth rate through 2023 for all pharmaceutical product sales is projected to be 33% while that for cold chain products specifically is 59%. Many brand manufacturers are developing specialty pharmaceuticals drugs with more high-value active ingredients with a shorter shelf life and strict temperature requirements. WDSrx is exploring additional cold chain capabilities at multiple locations for refrigerated (2-8 degrees C) and frozen (-80 degree C) products. An expanded cold chain capability will also support the needs of companies that specialize in cold chain logistics.
The $3.8 trillion (yes, trillion) in global online sales in 2017 is projected to grow to almost $6 trillion by 2024. Health and beauty products represent the second largest category of online sales behind fashion clothing and accessories. WDSrx is an important resource for a growing quantity of personal care brands and supplement manufacturers that rely on our logistics services to manage their e-commerce fulfillment requirements.
Watch for improvements in the warehouse next year as our Datex Warehouse Management System (WMS) automates more tasks previously completed manually. The upgrade includes the ability to track Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to assure clients that operations are performing as promised. Our account representatives are being trained to better respond to client requests with the addition of new software to increase effectiveness and client satisfaction.
As new areas of business increase and technical and training improvements are adopted next year, plans are being discussed to recognize outstanding individual and team effort on a regular basis. Our Human Resources and Quality Assurance teams help to maintain high WDSrx standards written in our Quality Management System procedures and in our Employee Handbook.
These are only some of the initiatives being considered or being launched in 2020 designed to increase client satisfaction, improve job satisfaction and extend WDSrx leadership role as a premier pharmaceutical logistics services provider.
